About Miles 4 Meier
In honor of Blake MeierPictured to the left are three American teenagers from a middle class family from a northern suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. These three boys are best friends. This picture was taken just before their senior year homecoming dance. They are clearly happy, and why wouldn’t they be? They have their entire lives to look forward to, they are about to go out into the great unknown! They could do whatever they wanted in life. They all had families that loved and supported them. They all had great schooling, went to a great academic and well funded high school, and they could all three go off to college and be whatever they set their minds to. The one in the middle is named Blake Meier. This entire page, this race, the reason you are reading this right now is because of him. Blake Meier was a kind hearted, soft spoken guy from Kennesaw, Georgia. Blake came from a great family, was a great athlete, and need I say was quite the ladies man. But Blake is no longer with us on this earth. Unfortunately, and with a heavy heart I must tell you that Blake Meier made the mistake that a countless number of America’s youth have made and continue to make in gut retching numbers; Blake Meier overdosed and Blake is unfortunately no longer living. The other two guys in that photo, well we are doing quite well. We both graduated from college, we both work in corporate America and we both are trying to live out the American dream. Why do I tell you this you might ask? Well, 33,000 people in 2015 alone were killed because of an opioid overdose. Drug addiction and overdoes does not discriminate based on gender, race, social class, level of education, or any other factor. Overdose can happen to anyone, anywhere. This is an epidemic and it needs to stop! It needs to stop, now. At the bottom of this website we have created a gallery with enjoyable pictures of Blake, his family and friends. This gallery and 5k race is meant to celebrate and honor his life. Miles4Meier has been formed to raise awareness for the growing opioid epidemic that is sweeping our nation. Whether someone who has never used a drug in their life, to a recovering user or someone who is still fighting the addiction battle, join us to raise awareness and help us use Blake’s story to help change the trajectory of others lives. This website and 5K run serves the purpose of honoring and celebrating Blake Meier’s life. This came directly from the heart of a guy who loved Blake as a brother and misses him dearly. R.I.P. to all the ones we’ve lost and God speed to all the ones still fighting.
We seek to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic sweeping our land and raise money to help those hurting..
